Vision Board sets 2011 goals, work plans to follow
During its January meeting, the Downtown Vision Board laid out its 2011 goals that mirror what the Garden City community said it wanted to see in its core business district.
Using the findings found in the City of Garden City's 2009 Comprehensive Plan, the Board, with guidance provided by Tanner Lucas, Board member and City communications specialist, and Kaleb Kentner, director of City Planning and Board ex-officio member, the Board will tackle the development and implementation of a Downtown Master Plan.
Included in this plan will be a detailed streetscape plan that will also address brick streets, Stevens Park water feature, and Heroes' Way, Downtown housing and facade renovation, development of a Downtown Improvement District that will also provide a small business incubator opportunity, Thursday and Saturday farmers' markets, volunteer development for committees, events, and the Board, and the development of new marketing and branding strategies that will incorporate entryways and signage.
Stay tuned as developments and goal progress will be featured here!
